The aftermath of a student incident
Following a violent incident on campus between students, the authorities had to be involved, and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the students involved.
In response to this unprecedented and unacceptable event within the institution, the University has taken immediate measures, including reinforcing security services on the premises and initiating disciplinary proceedings against the students involved. To assist the student community in processing these events, the staff of the Student Services Centre are providing priority counselling and psychological support to students who may be affected.
“BME leadership and the Students’ Union state firmly and unequivocally that any form of violence is incompatible with the values of the University. We do not tolerate violence within our community and reject it in any form, whether it occurs within or outside the University.
Respect for human dignity, the protection of personal rights, honour, cooperation, partnership, and diversity is fundamental to the operation of our University. We expect every member of the university community to uphold these principles,”
write Szabolcs Rózsa, dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Imre Lévai, the president of the Students’ Union in their message to the faculty community.
